The Women's Project, initiated by the Nehemiah International Foundation in 2023, is a grassroots association of women artisans who previously worked as solo entrepreneurs.
They came together to form entrepreneurial ventures that empower indigenous women in Guatemala, helping them overcome poverty through education, vocational training, and economic opportunities.
This project not only fosters sustainable development and community leadership but also sustains and celebrates indigenous culture through their collaborative efforts.
The Women's Association in Guatemala, through their collaborative project, creates vibrant, handcrafted products using techniques passed down through generations. Their offerings range from intricately designed handbags and guitar straps to beautifully crafted hats, dresses, and jewelry made with indigenous materials like jade, leather, and hand-dyed, woven fabrics. Each piece reflects the rich cultural heritage and artisanal skills of indigenous Guatemalan women, promoting sustainable development and economic empowerment.
